Dr. Michael Frey, Head of Commercial Excellence at Evonik Industries

Almost a decade ago, specialty chemicals player Evonik has set course to develop from a strong technological heritage and strive for true customer orientation and commercial excellence. Next to project support and operative guidance, the role of capability building has been significantly strengthened over the last years. A holistic concept building on a variety of learning methods has been rolled out to about 3,000 employees working in customer service, sales, and marketing functions. Dr. Michael Frey, head of Commercial Excellence at Evonik Industries will share his experience from designing and running the Evonik School of Marketing and related programs.

After completing university training in chemistry and economics in Cologne and Cape Town, he joined the Boston Consulting Group in Düsseldorf and worked as a consultant and project leader on marketing and strategy topics, with a focus on the Chemicals and Life Sciences sector. Based on a 12-months program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau and Singapore, he received his MBA in 2008. In 2011 Michael joined Evonik in their central Marketing & Sales Excellence function and was responsible for developing the capability building programs for Marketing, Sales and Customer Services.
